Camp Sunshine

A RETREAT FOR CHILDREN WITH LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSES AND THEIR FAMILIES

Camp Sunshine Renovation is Now Complete!

5/28/08

We are pleased to report that the Shaw Brothers Construction 2nd Story Addition onto Camp Sunshine’s Viterbi Family Activity Center is now complete.

As you can see from the pictures below, Camp Sunshine is shining brilliantly, and the new addition looks beautiful.

We welcomed our first campers over Memorial Day Weekend and the new space was a hit. Family members enjoyed reading books in the new Joan and Bill Drapeau Library, and playing games in the new solarium. The new Tzell Travel Group Teen Center was also a hit, with new games for the teens, expanded space, and features the new Mattina R. Proctor Foundation Porch perched overlooking the back of the campus. Likewise, the adults enjoyed “Nancy’s Place”, an expanded discussion room aptly named after Camp Sunshine’s Psychosocial Director Nancy Cincotta. The room was gifted by the JTG Foundation. Another hit among the adults was the new adult arts and crafts room, gifted by the Skirball Foundation.

On the administration side, the staff moved back into their offices on the first floor, and we are finally spreading out and enjoying some much-needed breathing room in the new second floor Hannaford Charitable Foundation & Hannaford Supermarkets Administrative Offices.

Many thanks to Dan and Jon Shaw of Shaw Brothers Construction, Joan and Bill Drapeau, and all of those generous donors who helped make this new addition possible.

We hope you enjoy the pictures below and welcome all of you to come visit our beautiful campus.
